New-for-old Stokvis boilers keep Moto Lancaster running smoothly

Motorway service stations are round-the-clock operations, making any interruption to their heating and hot water supplies highly disruptive to the businesses there, and a key reason why the UK’s largest operator of such facilities specifies equipment from Stokvis Energy Systems.

Moto Hospitality Ltd owns more than 50 sites across the country. Having purchased Stokvis boilers, plate heat exchangers and packaged plant in the past, they have returned to the company to source their latest models.

Therefore, with the two existing Econoflame R18 Series boilers at Moto Lancaster approaching the end of their design life, they have been replaced as part of a major capital works contract, using the modern, high-performance, R3401 boilers, each offering an output of 656kW. The work at the site by the M6 at Forton was successfully completed last autumn by George Birchall Service Limited.

The Senior Engineer for Moto Hospitality, Darren Spruce, commented:

“We like to use Stokvis boilers and other equipment because we have found them to offer a high build quality, with the boilers featuring stainless steel heat exchangers and good performance parameters. While we could find a slightly cheaper alternative, Stokvis offers the longevity and reliability we need.

“As is common on these contracts, at Moto Lancaster we were taking out old Stokvis atmospheric boilers to replace them with the modern fully modulating, fully condensing, Ultra low NOx models. The changeover by George Birchalls Ltd and the commissioning by Stokvis went smoothly.”

The relationship between Stokvis Energy Systems and George Birchall also now extends to more than a decade, with the M&E specialist having come to rely on the manufacturer’s expert support when tendering, planning and carrying out contracts. This has included work on commercial, education, medical and retail contracts.
