A major residential development opportunity on the outskirts of Glasgow has gone on the market.
Forming the second phase of the Campsie Village Development in Lennoxtown, the site is 12.3 acres with capacity for up to 115 units.
Located close to Celtic FC’s state-of-the-art training ground, the expansive site is within the grounds of the former Lennox Castle Hospital. It is being brought to the market by JLL on behalf of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.
Nina Stobie, associate director, JLL, said:
“This is an exciting opportunity for developers, with the site fully serviced and key infrastructure already in place.
“Lennoxtown is just 12 miles north of Glasgow and offers an excellent out of town location for commuters. We expect to see keen interest in this second phase and look forward to engaging with developers.”
The village of Lennoxtown is located at the foot of Campsie Fells in East Dunbartonshire. The available site runs parallel to the A891, connecting Lennoxtown with the villages of Strathblane, Milton of Campsie and Kirkintilloch.
There are regular bus links to surrounding towns and Glasgow, while nearby Bishopbriggs and Milngavie offer direct rail links into Glasgow city centre.
Lennoxtown has a number of amenities, including a supermarket, local shops, a town hall and dental and GP practices. There is a local primary school, with secondary schools located in Kirkintilloch and Kilsyth.
The wider masterplan for the Campsie Village Development shows a residential development area of 46.5 acres, with capacity for 320 residential units.
Phase 2 is to the south east of the development with much of its boundary marked by mature woodland. The site comprises two parts separated by an access road.
The first phase of Campsie Village was developed by Mactaggart and Mickel Homes, who built 76 detached and semi-detached units on a 10.9 acre site.
