LK2 projects shortlisted at regional awards

Leading architecture, sports and leisure firm LK2 is pleased to announce that two of its projects have been shortlisted for this year’s Lincolnshire Energy Awards.

The impressive Borderville Sports Centre and Islington’s Market Road pitches have both been shortlisted for the highest accolade of Construction Project of the Year at the upcoming award ceremony.

Both projects showcase LK2’s dedication to sustainability and energy efficient technologies – with the aim of providing affordable buildings which fulfil the needs of its clients.

Dale Lui, managing director at LK2, said:

“Having an environmentally friendly approach to our projects is essential to the success of the work we do, we are very pleased to have been recognised for this through these two award nominations.
“We are proud of all our projects, and both the Market Road project and Borderville Sports Centre showcase our diverse expertise, which provide communities with efficient, modern and functional buildings.”

The Lincolnshire Energy Awards seek to recognise the achievements of companies and organisations in the county which positively reduce the volume of emissions into the environment, embrace renewable energy technologies and save on resources through recycling.

During the Market Road project in Islington, LK2 needed to evaluate the needs of sport and leisure facilities locally, to create a building which met those needs and also remained energy efficient. The project delivered a robust and vandal resistant design, which met all of the required environmental factors outlined by the client. LK2 also achieved the 30 per cent reduction in the carbon footprint, effectively meeting its brief.

Similarly the Borderville Sports Centre achieved a BREEAM excellent rating, it was carefully delivered to consider noise levels, pollution, light and visual impact on the community. The project highlights LK2’s breadth of experience in specialist consultancy services – as it delivered a new purpose built educational and sports facility which optimised space management using cleverly designed flexible, multi use accommodation.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony at the Doubletree by Hilton in Lincoln on Thursday 18 June.
