Laying the foundation for a career with Redrow

A Construction open day to help Redrow build its Midlands’ workforce has been heralded a success after attracting would-be apprentices to site managers and everything in between.

More than 70 people attended and Redrow is hoping to recruit a number of new employees as a result.

The Creating Careers event held at the Motorcycle Museum in Solihull was an opportunity for site managers, bricklayers, joiners, plumbers, plasterers, electricians, apprentices, fork lift drivers and labourers to find out about the roles available either working directly for or as a sub-contractor for the Tamworth-based business.

Pauline Turnbull, sales director for Redrow Homes (Midlands), said:

“Redrow has a solid reputation not just for building quality homes that people love to live in, but as an employer too. The fact that we were listed in the 2013 Building Good Employer Guide assures people that we look after our workforce and offer plenty of opportunities for career development. More than 70 people attended our Creating Careers event to find out more about working with us or our contractors. The potential new recruits included a variety of trades, young people enquiring about apprenticeships, site managers and, although the day was aimed at construction, we had sales consultants there too.

“We’re now assessing who we can offer jobs to or who we can place with our contractors and will be writing to everyone who attended. Working for a FTSE 250 company with a reputation for building premium quality homes in prime locations, Redrow employees can expect a fast paced, dynamic environment and look forward to plenty of opportunities for career development.”

Redrow is one of the UK’s leading housebuilders and constructs around 3,000 homes annually across England and Wales. The company directly employs over 1,300 people and provides employment for thousands of sub-contractors on its new homes developments.

In the Midlands, the company is currently building new homes at Castle View, Stafford; Oakwood Grange, Great Wyrley; Trenchwood Gardens, Telford; Abbey Meadows, Pershore; Kings Park, Worcester; Hamlet Place, Stourport; Saxon Fields and The Oaks, Bromsgrove; Laburnum Gardens, Evesham; Chestnut Walk, Bilston; Compton Park, Wolverhampton; Cawston Grange, Rugby; Tudor Gardens, Atherstone and The Willows, East Leake.
