To assist architects and designers, Premier Loft Ladders has made technical data for the Klimatec 160 loft ladder available within NBS Plus. It can be found within section L30 (clause 41 and clause 421).
The Klimatec 160 is a high-specification loft ladder that is not only certified for use in Passive buildings, but also offers 30 minutes fire protection. Furthermore, it features a folding steel ladder that has a load rating of 250kg per tread. As such, the Klimatec is ideally suited to both residential and commercial projects.
About the Klimatec 160…
The Klimatec 160 is the latest product in the Premier Loft Ladders range that is certified by the Passive House Institute (PHI) for use in passive buildings. It offers very high thermal insulation, achieving a U-value of just 0.34 W/m2K. It also features a class 4 certified airtight seal. As such, it is extremely effective at keeping the warmth in the building. An optional secondary upper-cover adds further insulation, while the ‘air seal kit’ ensures an airtight seal between the outside of the hatch box and the building.
An important benefit that sets the Klimatec 160 apart from other passive house certified loft ladders is the fact it offers fire protection as standard. Therefore, the 30-minute fire rating makes it ideal for projects that must achieve the highest standards in energy efficiency, but also require protection from fire.
The loft ladder itself is made of high strength steel components. When not in use, the ladder folds-up within the hatch box. Both the hatch and the ladder itself feature innovative counter-balanced operation. As a result, extending and closing the ladder is particularly easy, which not only improves comfort and convenience, but also has significant safety benefits
The large treads have a load rating of 250kg, making the ladder suitable for use in heavy duty applications. Furthermore, the steel components have a high-quality white powder coat finish for both aesthetics and durability.
