BBC filming, a ministerial visit, great sales and accolades aplenty; it’s been a great first year for Horsforth Vale – and developers Redrow needed a special cake to celebrate.
They found one courtesy of Horsforth cake maker Little Maggie’s Cakes, who made a miniature replica of The Balmoral, Redrow’s largest showhome at Horsforth Vale, which was almost too good to eat!
The fabulous cake was shared with happy home owners during a first birthday afternoon tea party to celebrate the development’s achievements, not least that more than 76 homes have already been sold across two adjoining Redrow ventures, The Green and The Limes. Only 11 homes remain for sale at The Limes and The Green has proven to be very popular with the first phase already sold out and 15 reservations taken for phase two so far.
Horsforth Vale has totally transformed a former industrial site on the edge of Horsforth, only a few miles north west of Leeds city centre, and Redrow’s achievements have been recognised independently by several organisations. It was highly commended in the best residential development category of the 2014 UK Property Awards and won a silver gilt award for ‘best rural landscape’ at last year’s New Homes Gardens Awards.
The brownfield development was also a finalist in the 2015 RICS Pro Yorkshire awards and site manager Shaun Johnson picked up a prestigious Quality award in last year’s NHBC Pride in the Job competition.
Other notable events included a visit from Minister for Transport Baroness Kramer during the Government’s Housing Week to meet Help to Buy customers and apprentices – she even tried her hand at laying her brick – and the BBC selected the development as a pretty location to film scenes for the new series of The Syndicate, which starts this week (June 2).
Patsy Aicken, sales director for Redrow, said: “It was great to be able to celebrate this anniversary with customers of all ages with a bit of a party and, of course, that wonderful cake. Horsforth Vale has experienced more unusual and exciting events than your average housing development and we’re very proud of what we’ve achieved here in just one year since sales began.
“The development has certainly come a long way since it was the redundant site of the old Clariant Works. The fact that it has won awards, been very successful on the sales front and was chosen as a BBC filming location shows just how desirable these homes are.”
The site had been a chemical manufacturing plant before it was totally remediated by Redrow’s sister company, Harrow Estates.
Redrow’s stone-built houses are much more in keeping with the lush, green surrounds and Horsforth Vale will now eventually comprise circa 330 new homes and landscaped open space, close to the good schools, shops and amenities of Horsforth.
The Green and The Limes each boast two fully furnished showhomes, which are open daily from 10am to 5.30pm. Current prices are from £314,950, while a full-size version of the four-bedroom detached Balmoral is the icing on the cake at £534,950!
