Trehearne Architects has prepared designs for the transformation of the former Toys R Us headquarters in the Vanwall Business Park, Maidenhead. Following complete modernisation, reimaging and enlargement, the building will contain Grade-A office space of the same standard as a new-build development.
The proposals involve stripping the building back to its structural frame in order to re-image the dated aesthetic of the existing architecture and to increase the nett lettable area by approximately 35%. John Paul Construction has been employed by Mercer Real Estate Partners to carry out the work, which is programmed for completion during the first quarter of 2015.
Dave Upton, project architect at Trehearne Architects comments:
“Just 30 miles to the west of London, the Vanwall Business Park is ideally located to attract Europe’s leading companies who expect the best regional office space available. We have sought to create truly contemporary space in terms of building aesthetic, quality of accommodation and environmental credentials in order to meet this demand for company headquarters.”
