SPIE Building Services are delighted to be chosen by EDF Energy as their preferred contractor to refurbish and remodel the ground and first floors of a four-storey office building located on the Hinkley Point B site in Somerset. The £1.15M contract was awarded last year and works commenced at the beginning of January, with completion due April 2015.
The project, which is design and build, comprises both buildings fabric and building services work. This is another opportunity for the teams from SPIE Solihull, SPIE Bristol, and SPIE Garside Laycock to work together and to emphasise our commitment to build strong working relationships.
The extensive refurbishment works includes the upgrade of all aspects of the building, including all mechanical and electrical building services. SPIE Garside Laycock will be installing new kitchens, showers and WC’s and redecorating or replacing all ceilings, floors and walls.
The project is going well and phase 1 enabling works are nearing completion. Exceptional standards of health & safety are required on the project and SPIE are adopting the processes and procedures stipulated by EDF Energy. Feedback from the client to date is very positive.
The work is being carried out in a challenging environment where the strictest security arrangements are in place due to the nature of the work carried out on the site.
