Dickies support the Antarctic Heritage Trust

Dickies, the internationally renowned workwear brand supplied overalls to the Antarctic Heritage Trust for their Port Lockroy operation.

The United Kingdom Antarctic Heritage Trust (UKAHT) works to conserve Antarctic buildings and artifacts, and to promote and encourage the public’s interest in its Antarctic heritage.

Port Lockroy is not only an important natural and historic environment, but also a destination for many from around the world who want to come and learn more about the Antarctic. One role of UKAHT in this is both as monitor and regulator.

Anna Malaos, from United Kingdom Antarctic Heritage Trust said:

“Port Lockroy continues to go from strength to strength and is very much the shop window of the trust in the Antarctic. It continues to be the most visited site in Antarctica and this year we welcomed over 18,000 visitors to the museum. We also managed to complete major conservation works at Port Lockroy with the restoration of the old base leader’s office and the workshop and also continued our conservation works at Detaille Island hut.”

Anna added:

“The team needed Dickies overalls for outdoors to complete the annual maintenance works to the historic hut. This mostly involved painting, some artifact conservation work and a lot of snow digging.

“Our staff are now all back home in the UK having completed a very successful season. Thank you so much for assisting us with our operation in Antarctica by supplying your overalls for our staff to wear. It is a big help and much appreciated.”

Ben Pearson project manager at Dickies enthused:

“We are happy to be able to help and support such a worthy cause.”
