Bison Manufacturing, the UK’s leading precast concrete manufacturer, will supply the £50M Sobell Redevelopment in Aberdare with precast floors and stairs.
The new school will have capacity for 1,600 students and will feature an athletics track and stadium together with multi-use games courts and a skate park.
Working with the main contractor, Laing O’Rourke, Bison will provide a total of 7 complete stair and landing units together with 14,000m² of Hollowcore flooring. Bison’s offsite manufacturing capability compliments Laing O’Rourke’s DfMA (Design for Manufacture and Assembly) agenda, reducing construction time and cost whilst enhancing overall site Health & safety.
Mike Nelson, Sales and Commercial Manager at Bison Manufacturing said:
“On large projects such as this it’s imperative to ensure that schedules are tightly adhered to. Using offsite manufacture and assembly ensures that all deadlines are met.”
Aberdare Community School is scheduled for completion in April 2015 and the full Sobell Redevelopment with athletics track and stadium in September 2015.
