Associations merge to form 38,000-home landlord

Social housing providers Radian and Yarlington have joined forces in a new partnership, creating an organisation with 38,000 homes and 79,000 customers across the south and south west of England.

The new organisation plans to build 10,000 homes over the next 10 years. It also hopes to invest more in the communities where it works, contributing additional resources to homelessness prevention and rolling out new digital services for customers.

The new organisation works in 36 local authority areas. By merging its resources it expects to develop new strategic partnerships with organisations that share its values both locally and nationally.

From last month Yarlington became a subsidiary of Radian Group, with both associations operating with a shared board, executive and senior leadership team. Gary Orr, currently Chief Executive of Radian, has been appointed Group Chief Executive. He was formerly Chief Executive of Yarlington.

Gary Orr said:

“I am extremely pleased to confirm this new partnership as our two organisations complement each other in many different ways. Having embarked on initial discussions earlier this year, it became evident through a period of thorough consultation and due diligence that we could provide an even better service for our customers by forming this new company.”

“Combining our skills and resources means we can further increase our programme of new homes delivery, but at the heart of all this our commitment to our customers and our social purpose remains unchanged.”

“We will continue to provide homes to those who are in need of affordable housing, whilst offering the opportunity of home ownership to those who would otherwise be unable to afford it. At the same time, we will continue to support the communities in which we work by facilitating access to employment opportunities and training, whilst improving our digital services.”
