In almost all countries the share of architects who prefer working with total solution suppliers instead of suppliers of single products only, has grown significantly in the last one year. These are some of the conclusions of the Q2 2014 European Architectural Barometer report, a quarterly research among 1,600 architects in eight European countries. European architects act as a leading indicator for the construction activities.
Offering just separate products to the market seems to be not enough anymore. The latest Arch-Vision results show clear increase in the preference of the European architects to work with manufacturers offering total solutions. the developments in this area are ongoing and more and more manufacturers are also thinking of how to satisfy this requirement of the market. From another research done on an European level at the beginning of 2014 appeared that 29% of the manufacturers already offer total solutions to their customers, and other 23% are thinking of doing that.
The difference in the answers of the architects with just one year ago is remarkable: in some countries the share of the architects who prefer working with such manufacturers has grown with 20 percentage points within one year. UK, Spain and Poland are good examples here. It can be expected the preference to grow even more in the coming years.
For the manufacturers of building materials and products it should be obvious that in order their products to be considered by the architects, they will need to make the shift from product suppliers to total solution suppliers.
These and many other results and trends of the developments of the European construction market can be found in the European Architectural Barometer, an international market research conducted among 1,600 architects in Europe. This study is conducted in Germany, France, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Belgium and Poland by Arch-Vision four times a year. Besides indicators to forecast the European building volumes, a specific topic is highlighted each quarter. The topic in Q2 2014 was “Architectural design & Technology trends”. Architects can be used not only as a reliable source for future building volumes information, but their role is very important as they have great influence on how projects are built and which materials are used.
