LJMU Estates Roadmap to 2020 progresses with 4-6 Rodney Street

LJMU is currently in the process of mapping around six major capital developments across the city centre, the majority to be completed by 2020.

Planning applications are currently being prepared for the development of the Student Life and Sports Building on Copperas Hill; the extension to the Aldham Robarts Library and the refurbishment of Tithebarn Street.

Senate Group has been appointed as main contractor at 4-6 Rodney Street for the part-location of the Liverpool Business School, planned for opening in September 2018 to students.

The project involves the extensive refurbishment of two listed Georgian buildings to create a student hub and business space befitting of this leading 21st century business school, whilst retaining the classical design, through sensitive restoration of the existing period features.

The architectural style and interior detail will showcase the fascinating history of these buildings, combining historical details and craftsmanship with modern features complimenting the existing, making this a truly unique renovation for the project team.

Tim Nichol, Executive Dean for the Liverpool Business School comments:

“This is an exciting development in the next phase of the Liverpool Business School and firmly roots us in the heart of this historic quarter of the city.”

“The University headquarters has had a presence in Rodney Street for over 30 years and it is certainly fitting that the creation of this new Management Development Centre for our professional and corporate clients will sit alongside our existing executive offices.”

Kiera Vogel, Director, Senate Group adds:

“I am thrilled that we have been given the opportunity to deliver this project for LJMU.”

“4-6 Rodney Street is the ideal project for Senate, combining our conservation and heritage skills with building services emphasis on the design.”

“We look forward to seeing 4-6 Rodney Street as a focal point at LJMU for facilitating business and student success.”

Working alongside Senate on the renovation are DAY Architectural (Architect/Conservation), Todd & Ledson (PM/QS) and Steven Hunt Associates (M&E Consultants).
