Leading international property and infrastructure group, Lendlease, has secured consent for its latest phase at The Timberyard Deptford, for the company’s first Build to Rent scheme in the area, designed by Hawkins\Brown Architects.
The reserved matters approval for Phase Two of the project, totalling four buildings of one to eight storeys, comprises 251 residential apartments, specifically designed for rent. Positioned at the gateway to the site, it also includes 439sq. m. of retail and leisure, a dedicated residents’ lounge and games/event space, new landscaped public realm and improvements to the area’s connectivity.
All apartments will incorporate spacious living areas, with either private balconies or garden space to take advantage of views towards new public realm, the park or the waterways that will be created as part of the wider masterplan. Eleven of the apartments will be impressive duplex penthouses, with dedicated garden terraces and views towards Deptford Park.
Once built, the project will be Lendlease’s largest residential Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) project globally.
Richard Cook, Head of Residential, Lendlease Europe, said:
“The Timberyard Deptford features a number of exciting innovations. The pre-fabricated CLT frame, combined with bathroom pods constructed off-site and green roofs across all buildings, will create a high-quality, sustainable scheme of which Deptford can be proud. New retail and leisure space at the entrance to the development will create a buzz and excitement for this part of town, which together with an impressive service offering including a concierge service, will produce a well-balanced project that delivers for London.”
Completion of Phase Two is anticipated in 2020. 80% of open market sale homes in the phase already under construction are now sold and are due for completion in winter 2019/20.
