After almost 40 years in the construction industry, the newly-appointed Operations Manager at Colmore Tang Construction is bringing his wealth of experience to help the Birmingham-based contractor continue to flourish.
Andy Bassett (57) – who joined Colmore Tang Construction in October – has big plans for the future of the company, which has grown increasingly successful since it was established in 2013 and now has a projected turnover of £100 million this year.
“Now is a very exciting time to join the business,” said Andy. “At this stage in the company’s growth, the challenge is to ensure we have a smooth transition to the next level and I’m ready to do exactly that.”
Andy started out as a joiner when he was 16 and has worked his way up the career ladder to construction management.
Among his recent successes, Andy has managed a number of high-profile construction projects, including a £36 million police custody suite and a £27 million retail development.
“In my experience, joiners make the best managers as joinery skills include lots of planning,” he said. “Successful operations management is about leadership and getting everyone moving in the right direction – it’s a bit like being the captain of a ship!
“As the business continues to grow I am looking forward to improving efficiency whilst maintaining the high levels of safety that Colmore Tang Construction is so well known for.”
